For families
Family FAQ
Questions we hear most often from parents and caregivers. If yours isn’t here, your child’s teacher or school is always a good next stop.
About the program
What is Inner Explorer?
Inner Explorer is a daily, audio-guided mindfulness program used in schools. Each practice is a few minutes long and led by a recorded guide, helping children build attention, calm, and emotional awareness.
Is there a cost to families?
When your child’s school provides Inner Explorer, family access is included at no cost to you. Whether home access is enabled is up to each school.
Using it at home
Do I need any special equipment?
No. Any phone, tablet, or computer with sound will do. A quiet space and a few uninterrupted minutes are all that’s really needed.
How much time should we spend?
A few minutes a day is plenty. Short and consistent beats long and occasional. Let your child’s interest guide how far you go.
About the practice
Is Inner Explorer religious?
No. The practices are secular and focus on breathing, attention, and kindness. They’re designed to be welcoming for children and families of every background.
My child finds it hard to sit still. Is that okay?
Completely. Restlessness is normal, especially at first. There’s no need to sit perfectly still or close their eyes. Simply being present and hearing the guide is enough.
Privacy & safety
How is my child’s information protected?
Inner Explorer follows student-privacy practices designed for schools and collects only what’s needed to run the program. Your child’s school can share the specific privacy agreement that applies to your district.
Who can see my child’s journal?
Journaling is meant as a private, reflective space. Practices around how reflections are used are set by your school. Your teacher can explain how journaling works in your child’s classroom.
