Getting started
Finding your way around
The Inner Explorer platform is intentionally simple. Here’s a quick tour of the places you’ll spend your time.
Your home screen
When you sign in, you land on your home screen. Educators see their Daily Practices; administrators see their district or school dashboard.
From here, educators can manage their classrooms, open up today’s daily practice, or explore other topical series that can be run in addition to the daily practices. Administrators can track their schools’ mindful minutes and progress, and even do their own daily practices.
Switching classrooms
If you teach more than one class, each appears as its own card under Manage classrooms, in the top-right corner of your home screen, where you can add and remove classrooms. Each classroom keeps its progress, journal entries, and series separate, so every group moves at its own pace. Classrooms are available in both English and Spanish for Early Learning through Middle School. High School Spanish is currently in development.
The practice player
When you open a practice, the player fills the screen with a calm, themed background. The controls are deliberately minimal: play and pause, skip forward, and a progress bar. You can also add the practice to your favorites by selecting the heart in the bottom right corner. Press play and let the guide lead.
The journal
At the end of each practice, a journal prompt appears on the screen where the educator and the class have the option to respond. Once you submit, a feedback box appears asking how the practice made the class feel, along with room for any other feedback.
The 21 Day Quest
The first 21 days of mindfulness practice are the most formative. When you first sign in, you will be asked to opt into the 21 Day Quest. We encourage you to choose yes! If your class finishes 21 consecutive days of practice out of 30 days, your class will be recognized with a certificate.
Additional series and lessons
Beyond the Daily Practice, the library holds topical series and lessons. This is where you go to find something for a specific moment: a transitional period, a time when energy is too high, or before and after a stressful or hard moment.
The series available to you
Daily Practice is the core of the program: 180 practices, one for every day of the school year. It runs in sequence, and it’s the one series you’ll want to follow straight through from Day 1. See Launch your first practice to get started.
The rest are for moments beyond daily practice:
- Transitions & Sound Series to reset a class between activities: coming back from recess, moving from one subject to the next, or closing out the day. The sound practices include beautiful sounds from all around the world.
- School Safety Series for after a drill or a lockdown, when a class needs to come down from high alert before returning to the normal school day.
- Support Staff Series for small group and one-on-one settings. See Using the Support Staff Series.
- Educator Well-Being Series for educators to practice on their own, in staff meetings, or in hard moments.
You can find these listed in the navigation menu on the left side of the platform.
The additional topical series do not need to be played in sequential order, unlike the Daily Practices. Try different ones for different moments, and save some of your favorites.
You can find all your journals, favorites, classroom statistics, and resources under your profile settings, in the top right corner of the home screen.
